Everlasting golden voice of Kishore Kumar…..

 

Kishore Kumar was the most versatile artiste of Indian Cinema.  He was a  film playback singer and an actor who also worked as lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter. Kishore Kumar sang in many Indian languages.

Kishore Kumar played hero in the Bombay Talkies film Andolan (1951), directed by Phani Majumdar. He starred in Bimal Roy's Naukri (1954) and Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s directorial debut Musafir (1957). Kishore Kumar starred in films New Delhi (1957), Aasha (1957), Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958), Half Ticket (1962), and Padosan (1968).

Music director S. D. Burman is credited with spotting Kishore Kumar's talent as a singer, and advancing his singing career. During the making of Mashaal (1950), Burman visited Ashok Kumar's house, where he heard Kishore imitating K. L. Saigal. He complimented Kishore, but also told him that he should develop a style of his own, instead of copying Saigal. Kishore Kumar did not have a formal training in music.He kept Burman's advice in mind, and eventually developed his own style of singing, which featured the yodeling..S D. Burman recorded with Kishore for Dev Anand's Munimji (1954), Taxi Driver (1954), House No. 44 (1955), Funtoosh (1956), Nau Do Gyarah (1957), Paying Guest (1957), Guide (1965), Jewel Thief (1967), Prem Pujari (1970), and Tere Mere Sapne (1971). He also composed music for Kishore Kumar's home production Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958).

Pa negre – Goya award winner

The Goya to the best film has been awarded to Pa negre, directed by Agusti Villaronga. Filmed in Catalonian, it tells the story of the hardships of the post war years in rural Catalonia. The emotions and feelings of the characters of those who fought in the losing side of the war and its consequences are seen through the eyes of a child. The film won nine Goyas including the Goya to the best director, best actress, cinematographer, supporting actress, best new actor and actress, among others.

The new series of recent spanish stamps celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Goya Awards and the best film of 2010. It is made up of a souvenir sheet and a stamp.

The Academy of Arts and Cinematographic Sciences of Spain awards the Goyas annually in acknowledgement of the best professionals in the film industry in the different categories. These awards were created at the initiative of a group of renowned professionals who wished to level the Spanish film industry with other countries such as Hollywood's Oscars, Berlin's Bear, French Cesar Awards or the Lion of Venice.

This year to commemorate the silver anniversary of the Goya awards the ceremony has taken place for the first time in the Teatro Real in Madrid where the 28 statuettes were awarded to the best professionals from a variety of technical and artistic disciplines. The honorific Goya was awarded in recognition and tribute to a lifetime career.

The souvenir sheet is devoted to 25th Anniversary of the Goya Awards, featuring the winners of the Honorific Goya in these 25 years. The names of producers, writers, cinematographers, film directors, actors and actresses are depicted with representative elements of the film.

New Stamp on Yuri Gagrin…

On April 12, 2011 the Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “50th anniversary of the first manned space flight”.

In 2011 it is 50 years since the first manned space flight. On April 12, 1961 the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made the flight round the Earth on the ship “Vostok”. The flight lasted 108 minutes. In the same year the cosmonaut was given the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union.

Great Artists on new San Marino Stamp

Hi ! Here are some beautiful stamps issued by San Marino Post on 5 October 2010. The stamps commemorate great personalities from the field of music, film and literature. All four stamps have wonderful designs. The stamp design of Chopin is awesome with a magnificent background.The stamp of Mark Twain is also very nice with scenes from Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn !! I am so pleased to write here about these beautiful stamps !! The sheetlets of these stamps are very special with tabs of artist’s photo & details of his work. Great Artists

The series dedicated to Great Artists commemorates the composer Chopin on the 200th anniversary of his birth, the film director, screenwriter and producer, Kurosawa, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, the conductor Mahler on the 150th anniversary of his birth and the writer, Twain, on the 100th anniversary of his death.

The € 0,60 stamp depicts two hands playing a piano keyboard; the sea, an island and the moon can be seen, set against a night sky. The stamp bears the captions “FRYDERYK CHOPIN”, “1810-1849”.

The stamp in the series, with a value of € 4,95, depicts a close-up of the writer, Mark Twain, with details of his works in the background ( Tom Sawyer & Huckleberyfinn) with the captions “MARK TWAIN”, “1835-1910”. Mark Twain is noted for his novels Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), which has been called "the Great American Novel", and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876).

The € 0,65 stamp shows details of some films either written or directed by Kurosawa: The Seven Samurai, Ran and Dersu Uzala. The stamp carries the captions “AKIRA KUROSAWA”, “1910-1998”, “SEVEN SAMURAI”, “DERSU UZALA”, “RAN” and Akira Kurosawa's name written in Japanese.

The € 0,85 stamp depicts a conductor leading an orchestra and the public with the captions “GUSTAV MAHLER”, “1860-1911”.
