Thanks to everyone that commented and gave out their style ideas on how to wear the poncho! I really appreciate it. Mostly everyone said that it's best worn with skinny jeans and high shoes/booties. I also liked the idea of wearing it with shorts but alas the weather was quite wet so I opted for jeans instead. Here's what I came up with.
I initially tried it with wide-legged pants to give it a more seventies look but I knew the weather wasn't gonna cut me some slack and I'll just end up with a really dirty hem. Switched to skinnies instead.

As you can tell, I've been experimenting with this free online image editor, Pixlr-o-matic. I'm addicted to it right now. The effects are so pretty. I know it's possible to get similar effects with my lomo but I'm too lazy to use it. Maybe one of these days.
