World Alzheimer's Day - 21 September
The World health Organization and the Alzheimer Disease International have declared September 21st as the World Alzheimer's Day. On September 21st of each year, Alzheimer’s organizations around the world concentrate their efforts on raising awareness about Alzheimer’s and dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning.
US Postal service issued a special Postage stamp in the year 2008to create the awareness about this disease. The Spanish Post Office joins this commemoration with a special stamp issue this year.
The stamp depicts the logo "Absent thoughts. World Alzheimer's Day" with a blurred face representing the blurred brain of a person affected by this disease.
